Madalene, an artisan chef, and self-confessed food fanatic has spent the last 15 years cooking in Michelin-starred restaurants and becoming an established gastronomic writer. Now the husband and wife duo are set to open their very own restaurant in Suffolk – The British Larder. With a menu inspired by the best locally sourced produce, M&R approached P&P to produce an identity which reflected the artisan nature of their food. We designed a marque that combined the B & L letterforms into one crafted symbol which was rendered as a modern interpretation of a traditional etching style. The identity was applied to signage and internal print communications and informed the interiors, designed by People in Space.

Whilst christmas isn’t at the forefront of everyone’s mind in the middle of summer, Sainsbury’s has been putting together its collection of fine food & drink for this year’s festivities. Unveiled recently at Sainsbury’s HQ, the event took place in a reconstructed parade of quaint little shops inspired by Mayfair’s Burlington Arcade, each shop showcasing ranges within the Christmas collections, from patisserie, through Christmas mainstays like puds, to confectionery. We were commissioned to create graphic communications for the event and press material and we created a series of illustrations (developed by John See) for the seven shops in the arcade, playing with the idea of food and Victorian eccentricity. These were applied to a luxurious foiled blocked paper-wrapped box which contained the press materials for the event. The illustrations, colourways and typography were used to adorn the arcade, conceived by the very talented Blonstein & Associates.

Both experts in musculoskeletal, sports and occupational physiotherapy, the business was conceived to service a diverse number of international corporate businesses to provide care, consultancy and treatment for their employees. The marque, an amorphous sphere is based around musculoskeletal contours that change configuration to create a living, breathing identity.
