Discover the Geeks!
GWD Media do all sorts of amazing things with technology. From advertising screens in the back of bus seats to software that tells vending machine owners when their machine's run out of Kit Kats... even if they're miles away.
Formally SK Media, we were asked to give GWD a new look to go with the new name. GWD stands for geeks who deliver, but they wanted to keep this hidden. We couldn't help but be smart arses, designing an identity that can be used to both hide and hint at the hidden name.
We produced a tidy, restrained typographic marque with a 'G' symbol (for the times when the geek needs to be hidden). But rotate the 'G' and expose the geek, and staff could then bring their own individual personality to the identity.
An annual exhibition in London gave us the opportunity to move the idea on. A workshop style stand using everything from digital signs to a vending machine which gave out GWD’s promotional packs made a big pretty big statement.
The advertising medium which uses screens in the back of seats on public transport was given an identity which put consumer brands on wheels.
Software that keeps vender owners up to date with the performance of their machines, we designed an identity which reflected the data collection.
A similar performance related technology for Kiosk machines found in airports had a logo which could lock together into an infinite grid of information.
